FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Planica - Ski Jumping Women's Training
The North American Snowsports Journalists Association (NASJA) has officially endorsed Nordic Combined USA’s campaign advocating for the inclusion of women in Nordic Combined events at the 2030 Olympic Winter Games.
Following a unanimous vote by its Board of Directors on March 24, 2026, NASJA joins a growing international movement calling for gender equity in one of the Winter Olympics’ last remaining male-only disciplines.
A Unified Voice for the Snowsports Community
NASJA represents a diverse and influential network of more than 180 press and corporate members across North America. Its press members include journalists, photographers, and communications professionals who cover alpine, snowboard, and Nordic disciplines for a wide range of media outlets.
Corporate members span ski resorts, tourism organizations, and winter sports brands, all connected through their role in shaping the narrative and visibility of snowsports.
Collectively, NASJA members have reported from Olympic Games, World Cup competitions, and major international events—bringing firsthand expertise and credibility to the association’s position.
Supporting a Longstanding Push for Equality
For years, athletes and advocates have pushed for the inclusion of women in Nordic Combined, a sport that combines ski jumping and cross-country skiing. While women’s ski jumping has achieved Olympic inclusion, Nordic Combined remains the only Winter Olympic sport without a women’s event.
NASJA’s endorsement reflects its broader support for gender equality in snowsports, particularly for female ski jumpers who have long demonstrated the skill, dedication, and competitive depth necessary to compete at the highest level.
Backing Nordic Combined USA’s Campaign
Nordic Combined USA is leading the charge to secure Olympic inclusion for women in time for the 2030 Games, while also ensuring the continuation of men’s Nordic Combined events. The campaign aims to bring the sport in line with modern Olympic values of inclusivity and equal opportunity.
By formally endorsing this effort, NASJA is lending its voice—and the collective influence of its membership—to a critical moment in the sport’s evolution.
Looking Ahead to 2030
NASJA’s resolution will be submitted to the International Olympic Committee and shared across media channels to help amplify awareness and support for the initiative.
As the conversation around equity in sports continues to evolve, NASJA remains committed to advocating for fair representation and opportunity across all disciplines of snowsports.
The inclusion of women in Nordic Combined would not only mark a historic milestone for the Olympic Games, but also reflect the progress and future of the sport itself.
