President’s Message

The winter of 2015-16 was anything but good in the East.  However, as always, good days for skiing and riding could be found throughout the season.  We had a good turnout at our annual meeting at Mount Snow even though the weather was not be best.  Throughout the season we made the best of a less than ideal situation.

Many are saying that there has never been two bad snow years in a row.  Predictions from the Old Famers Almanac are for good weather and snow for this season.  Let’s hope so!

We have four good meetings lined up including the Boston Snow Expo, Omni Mount Washington Resort/Bretton Woods, Mont Tremblant and the NASJA Annual meeting in Steamboat Springs.

I continue to work with the NASJA Board and the other regions to make some changes that will benefit the organization and our members.  Membership is declining across the board.  We are not the only organization to be experiencing this.  Traditional organizations must change and adapt if that are going to survive.  We must do the same.

It is my sincere hope that the 2016-17 snow sports season in all parts of the country is nothing less than great and that we all have opportunities to tell great stories that will entice others to enjoy the winter sports that we do.

Peter Hines, NASJA-East President
